Know your PAN

Know your PAN

Income Tax Department of India has announced yesterday (Aug 7, 2017) that they have invalidated (deactivated) 11.44 Lakh PAN cards across the nation.

Reasons could be
  • Duplicate PAN numbers
  • Fake PAN cards allotted to non-existing individuals or organizations
  • False information provided.
Here is how to check if your PAN card is still active or not

  • Visit http://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
  • Click on the link "Know your PAN"
  • Fill in the details - Name, Date of Birth, Mobile number as per the fields specified and then submit.
  • You would receive an OTP to the registered mobile. (Make sure you enter the same mobile number that you specified when you applied for the PAN card)
  • Once you validate the OTP, you will be directed to a page where in you can click the validate button. If the status shows "Active", your PAN doesn't have any issues.
  • In case of multiple entries for the same PAN, you would be asked to enter further details to ensure the information is right and display you the active PAN card in the next page.
Also, make sure to link your Aadhar card with your PAN

Here is how you can do it.
  • Visit http://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
  • Click on "Link Aadhar"
  • On the next page, enter the following details  - PAN, Aadhar Number, Name as in Aadhar card,
  • Enter the Captcha code and click on "Link Aadhar" button
  • You will be redirected to login page using your PAN Card.
  • Enter the password (Register if you haven't already registered for the website).
  • Specify the Date of Birth (in case of an individual) / Date of Incorporation (in case of an organization)
  • Enter the Captcha code and click on "Login".
  • Once you login, a home page of yours appears and go to the option "Profile Settings" -> "Link Aadhar"
  • If your PAN card is already linked to Aadhar, you get the message "Your PAN card is linked to Aadhar Number XXXXXXXXXXXX"
  • In other cases, you just have to enter the details - Aadhar number, Name, Date of Birth to link your Aadhar card with PAN.
Good luck. Please comment if you find any problems

Janmashtami

India, the land of festivals will witness the birthday of Lord Krishna, Krishnashtami ( or simply called Janmashtami) today, 14th of August, 2017. Krishna, as called by many, was the eighth avatar of "Lord Vishnu" and also was said to be born on the midnight of the eighth day or the "Ashtami" according to Hindu Lunar calendar. Lord Vishnu came in the avatar of Krishna to protect Dharma. The name Krishna is given to him because of his color (krisna in Sanskrit means dark). Krishna is often portrayed as an attractive young looking boy with a flute. One of the most widely celebrated festivals across the nation, Janmashtami and Lord Krishna has been a great source of tales. These tales, I reckon are very inspiring, thought provoking and fun.  Krishna's journey from birth to becoming a "Lord", his victory over the evils, is an epic. Krishnashtami and its importance Let's travel back to the era of the king Kansa, the emperor of Mathura Kingdom

The nostalgia of Indian Cricket

Indian Cricket... I have been an ardent follower of cricket from my childhood. Though I wasn't good at batting, bowling or fielding, my penchant for cricket never went down. I was just a "Galli Cricketer" like many of us :) What is cricket to me?               Cricket was a fun, time-pass and a gentleman sport for me. But, the likes of  Gavaskar, Kapil, Sachin, Ganguly, Sehwag, Dravid and many others (I was just lazy to type all the legends names here. No offense please :P)  took it to a level where 1.3 Billion people of India have recognized cricket as a religion and the cricketers as their "Demi Gods". Not just movie stars, now we have cricket stars who get hailed for every win, every century, every wicket, every moment to which people associate to. However, on the flip side, the same people pelt stones, criticize in the most humiliating manner when a team or an individual fails. That is what cricket has done to the most lovable nation, India!
